Knight32206 9 Posted September 11, 2017 actually my mouth has been so dry with the cpap post-op that I can't use my machine anymore. now that I've lost 50 + pounds, I don't feel like I need it.I had the same problem with dry mouth. I stopped using it about a 1 month post op. I felt worse using the mask. Right now don't feel I need it. I do plan to do a sleep study to confirm.
shreegs 1 Posted September 18, 2017 I tried sleeping without my cpap because of the dry mouth. It seemed like pressure from the cpap was forcing my mouth open, so I slept with a pillow under my chin to keep my mouth closed. That helped, but the pressure was still too much. I am 6 weeks since gastric bypass, 31 lbs less than before surgery and I no longer sleep with my cpap. As a result the dry mouth issue has resolved itself.
