I would also clarify that the word "loose" means the opposite of tight, and the word "lose" means unable to retain or find something. There seems to be some confusion of which word to use when speaking of "losing" weight. Just trying to be helpful here.

Ok, I see now. In order to lose weight, I must turn it loose, but when I do, my skin becomes loose, which makes it a loser in my book. So now I need to lose the loose skin, and after I do that, there is no way that I want to have to re-lose the weight that I already lost.

Thank you, thank you, and THANK YOU!

I bite my tongue when I see that mistake (or lack of intellect?), it makes me want to "loose" my mind. :D

common abbreviations

@James Marusek

i think you started this list 3 years ago??

repeat it annually for newbies et al.

you do this wonderful "service". before YOUR time

it took me awhile to learn that NUT referred to a

nutritionist, not a crazy person, or something to eat :D

maybe we could add DW/DH for dear wife/dear husband -

OP - other person - WLS - weight loss surgery - always room

for new abbreviations - any one want to speak up.

you are a heck of a nice guy - aces - contributing to the board with

good info/thoughts/suggestions/support.

thanx

kathy

My apologies, I don't think people are ignorant. I know there are some words that are just dang confusing and for many. I still get confused w/ dessert and desert. I will admit, whenever I use the words, I check Google first. :( lol

When I think of the difference in the spelling between dessert and desert, I remember that if you eat a dessert (more than one "s"), you will get fat because there are double letters or too much of a good thing. The word desert is lacking the extra letter because it's a barren place. Like I said, that's my technique in visualizing the difference. It might not work for others.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
