Strivingforbetter 247 Posted September 4, 2017 I would also clarify that the word "loose" means the opposite of tight, and the word "lose" means unable to retain or find something. There seems to be some confusion of which word to use when speaking of "losing" weight. Just trying to be helpful here. 6 FluffyChix, pfisher, ChaosUnlimited and 3 others reacted to this
Berry78 4,261 Posted September 4, 2017 Ok, I see now. In order to lose weight, I must turn it loose, but when I do, my skin becomes loose, which makes it a loser in my book. So now I need to lose the loose skin, and after I do that, there is no way that I want to have to re-lose the weight that I already lost. 9 pfisher, Introversion, A_new_sara and 6 others reacted to this

I bite my tongue when I see that mistake (or lack of intellect?), it makes me want to "loose" my mind. 3 Introversion, pfisher and ProudGrammy reacted to this

I know there are some words that are just dang confusing and for many. I still get confused w/ dessert and desert. I will admit, whenever I use the words, I check Google first. lol 2 pfisher and ProudGrammy reacted to this

Strivingforbetter 247 Posted September 6, 2017 When I think of the difference in the spelling between dessert and desert, I remember that if you eat a dessert (more than one "s"), you will get fat because there are double letters or too much of a good thing. The word desert is lacking the extra letter because it's a barren place. Like I said, that's my technique in visualizing the difference. It might not work for others. 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
