Surgeon indicates being a "former smoker" makes it likely a sleeve would result in chronic acid reflux; and a RNY would result in an ulcer. Has anyone else been told this?

I was never told anything like this.

What I was told was that pre-surgery Gerd that can't be controlled with a ppi means that sleeve is not a good option due to risk of continued/increased Gerd after sleeve.
