Back again! So my regular diet starts in exact one week. Monday will be 5 weeks after that I'm allowed a regular diet. The problem is I feel like I don't know what to eat. Right now for my soft foods phase I eat a lot of eggs, soft shredded chicken I has the chili mashed potatoes and yeah I basically don't know what to do once I leave this phase. Honestly sometimes I feel like I can eat anything as long as I chew it really well and take small bites and time but I'm honestly confused I'm honestly scared like what do I eat now. I know I have a week well a little over a week but a week can fly fast.

I stick with the basics, focus on Protein, Vitamins and Water. So I eat mostly: bacon, egg, cheese in morning, rotisserie chicken for lunch/dinner, nuts/soft veggies/cheese for Snacks. Even when I was on the full diet it took me a long time to ease into what I'm eating now. My stomach took a long time to heal so it took a lot of trial and error to find what works best for me. And even now and under a year I'm still slowly trying to add things in. I don't eat veggies with hard rinds, I can't do beef very well, things are just different. But it's fun to try, little bites here and there see how it goes. Okay good

I did a google search for menu plans and it helped. I'm doing low carb so lots of meats (the fish here sucks or I'd do more fish) cheeses and nuts. I am forcing myself to cook more so I don't get bored and don't fall into old habits. It took me a while to get in the groove so at your stage I was eating chicken. Lots of chicken lol
Do you like to cook?

I skip the cooking right now due to summer heat, I just go buy a rotisserie chicken and carve 4-6oz off and devour. I LOVE chicken...and I eat the skin...tee hee!!!! To me it tastes so amazing and is all Protein AND it's soft meat so easy to digest.

So, in the beginning I ate so boring because I was scared and cooking was just too much for the little I could eat. But I used this for example.

Now that I'm three months out I use this.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
