I work at home, so I can wear my nightgown if I feel like it. I can't remember ever feeling comfortable in very tailored clothes, no matter what my weight was. Maybe I'll feel differently when I've reached my goal, but I doubt it very much. I'd just be happy to buy some regular-sized yoga pants, say, And a few pretty dresses with some sex appeal. ROFLMAO! Thank you for making me feel like I'm not alone! True story and full confession, I have eleventy billion pairs of flannel pj bottoms and tshirts--my work clothes. The other day, I switched it up and put on some pull up shorts that are falling down around my ankles (practically) and Mr. Fluffy comes home and says, "Oh good for you. You dressed for dinner!" *snort* Edited September 6, 2017 by FluffyChix 6 Smores, njgal, Ldyvenus and 3 others reacted to this

I put weight on slowly but steadily for decades after I was in a car accident, but while I was employed in various offices, getting up and showering and dressing and going off to work. For the decade or so that I have been self-employed, my weight remained about the same--too much, but not increasing. As they say, your mileage may vary. I'm changing plenty in this journey--I just don't anticipate changing my style of clothing significantly. I'm anticipating getting rid of clothes I've owned and worn for decades (yeah, style isn't a big issue, either) and getting an entirely new wardrobe. I'm excited about that. I'm just pretty sure it won't be tailored! I'm probably not going to buy tailored clothes since I'm retired and have a little farm. I will be weighing religiously though because it's way too easy to "grow" and not notice in sweats etc...I'm early in the process as well and can't wait to get new clothes as well (and I need to simmer down with my buying because I'm not done losing by a long shot). 2 SIPS in Seattle and FluffyChix reacted to this
OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted September 6, 2017 I mean no one has to be sitting in a 3 piece suit around the house. Still it doesn't hurt to have something on with a firm waist band. Like Jeans or khakis. Even my leggings from Fabletics have a firm waistband. Clothes that are completely stretchy are terrible for showing weight loss because you can wear them forever without needing to change sizes so it doesn't FEEL like you are making progress and they are terrible to maintenance because you can eat a on in them and easily gain. I don't expect everyone to agree on this or even share my opinion, but there are lots of people that read here that do no post, so it might help someone else. I changed my whole lifestyle and outlook to match and support a healthy lifestyle. There are lots of little things we can do to keep us mindful. 5 Ldyvenus, SIPS in Seattle, biginjapan and 2 others reacted to this

I absolutely agree that my jams and stretchies have contributed WAAAAAAAAYYYY too much to lack of accountability and lack of seeing progress. Sorry for being silly. I truly see your point. I will consider how to implement this and start making these changes. I really didn't think of it this way, since I'm an obsessive daily weigher that has a super long spread sheet with daily weights, cals, macronutrients, waist measurement, etc. But when you phrase it as being part of building new successful habits--you're definitely right! Ironically, Sunday at the grocery store I wore my magic pants and I looked down cuz I felt "uber free and easy." Low and behold, my pants are so big on me now, the waist band is still at my waste, but the crotch is almost to my knees! Did you take away my magic? Cuz at this rate, they won't make it another 18lbs (which was my lowest weight where I wore them). 3 Smores, Ldyvenus and OutsideMatchInside reacted to this

Kat410 423 Posted September 8, 2017 Just to pipe in again about the issue of stretchy clothes. This morning as I was dressing for the gym I realized that the only clothes that I still wear from my preop are my yoga pants, leggings, etc. the Spanx yoga pants I put on today to work out are a 3x and fit me when I was 80 lbs heavier. I will be able to wear them for probably another 30 lb loss. Yes they were snug before. Yes they are a tad loose now. But the point is, these pants will work for a hundred pound weight range. OMFG!!!!!For me - NOT GOOD!!!! Fine for gym. But that's it. 4 Smores, OutsideMatchInside, FluffyChix and 1 other reacted to this

Berry78 4,261 Posted September 8, 2017 Yup, I have stretchy 100lb (or more!) weight range pants too! Mine don't have the dangling crotch though.. so I'm betting I'll get 150lbs out of them. Forest Gump would be proud! 4 OutsideMatchInside, Ldyvenus, njgal and 1 other reacted to this

XYZXYZXYZ1955 675 Posted September 9, 2017 It occurs to me that I have yet another way to keep track of what I'm doing, at least for now. I'm diabetic, so I'm testing my blood sugar twice a day. Talk about an *immediate* way to know whether you've eaten correctly . . . There may be an age as well as a lifestyle aspect to my answer . . . I'm very close to retirement age. I'm told I look about ten years younger than I am, but I don't know if that will continue once my nice wrinkle-less skin isn't supported by fat any longer . . . I do like attractive clothes--but when I think of tailored things, I think of suits, which have never, ever looked good on me or felt comfortable--not when I was 136 and not when I was 380. And I hope I have some 100-pound pants--I'm totally broke at the moment. Couldn't afford a pair of used pants from the Salvation Army.
apu 84 Posted September 10, 2017 For the last 20 years I have had to wear suit and tie for work. As I got heavier in that period I slowly started stopped wearing a tie because I could no longer do up my top button on my dress shirts. Then the jacket became uncomfortable along with with my unforgiving dress pants. In the last couple of years I decided I was going to dress casual Friday style with stretchy jeans and dress shirt but everyday. Despite a fairly strict dress policy at work no one seemed to notice or really care that I was starting to look really dumpy. Despite the stretchy pants , the extra large shirts were spilling out my pants because of my generous tummy and I was having trouble finding belts bigger than 44 inches to contain everything. For me one of the worst things about being overweight was trying to be reasonable comfortable for 8-12 hrs a day in professional clothes. It just didn't happen. Now, I still like to wear jeans at work but its a fitted pair of size 36 Calvins, a nice tailored fit dress shirt, and fashionable set of dress shoes. Now feel like I am rockin casual Fridays( every day ) as a choice not as my only option . 6 Rainbow_Warrior, njgal, SIPS in Seattle and 3 others reacted to this

ChaosUnlimited 559 Posted September 11, 2017 I had a whole range of different size clothes from all the times I lost and gained weight. So as soon as my clothes started getting loose, I started trying on other sizes. I thought I'd be able to just wear a belt when my pants got too big, but I felt frumpy. I want to look as good as I feel, and it helps keep my mood upbeat to like what I'm wearing. Over the weekend, I cleaned out all my clothes that got too big since surgery and brought them to Good Will: 6 bags! I have gone from a size 3x to an XL, Size 22-24 to 16-18. I'm now on my last few items of clothing that I had packed away and will have to start shopping for things that fit. I live in a very rural area and don't have a lot of big stores near me, but had to go to the city today and treated myself to a few shirts from Old Navy. Of course, the two shirts I liked the most weren't on sale, but I went ahead and got them anyway. 4 Ldyvenus, Berry78, Airstream88 and 1 other reacted to this

I've moved several times and every time I do, I purge old stuff. Blast! 1 Ldyvenus reacted to this
