Sleep apnea!! Diabetic!!Any advice!?!?

Recommended Posts

I had the same problem with my sugar. It went up after surgery and had to have two shots of insulin. Mine wasn't that high. it was only 158. But they wanted to keep it down. They gave me the two shots (which i've never had to use insulin) my sugar was at 100-101.

yes sleep apnea went and so did my diabetes so hang in there it is well worth it. Expect right after the surgery to have to take insulin, This is due to the surgery effects not your condition. I had 2 injections while in the hospital and then when I got home my blood sugar is 85 normal and 101 after eating it is great !! The energy you develop after a few weeks will astound you.

I have decided to get the band ball rolling. I have high BP, take 4 pills in the morning and 2 of the 4 before bed and now have to take a new pill at bed for a total of 7 BP pills. My A1C is now at (have had type 2 diabetes for 5 years) 7, my BMI is 45%. Have been on a CPAP machine for 6 or 7 years and am so miserable. I want my health back. I emailed my Primary care Dr. this morning to let her know of my desire to get the ball rolling. I am encouraged by what I have been reading. I hope to use this blog for support.

Wow, you all are making me more and more anxious to get this done. I know I won't be able to take 90 units of Levemir twice a day with Humalog 34 units + sliding scale while eating so little! Maybe I will get off the insulin and even the Metformin (1000 mg twice a day) eventually. And then there's my problem with triglycerides. I have so many weight-related ailments, it's not funny. But I can see into the future now with hope! I may be able to get off a bunch of meds, actually. Geez, drinking Water all the time, exercising, and eating well is SO worth these possibilities! However, I don't think I can do it without the lapband. I need that tool in my kit. I can't do it alone! I go to OA online, and so far, it hasn't changed a thing. But once I get my lapband, it will! OH I CAN'T WAIT! :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
