Having vsg Sept 8 2017

Recommended Posts

It's starting to feel really real right now. My pre op diet starts tomorrow and my last meal was a salad!

I have a bunch of liquids and some Premier protien shakes for tomorrow and I'm waiting on my Amazon delivery of actual Protein Powder in the next few days. Highest weight was 286 and current weight is 284.4

I have my pre surgical testing tomorrow morning.

Today is my pre op appointment and just out of curiosity I took a pregnancy test (one of those cheap tests I get online) I had a few left over. And it was positive?!
I'm not one to put my business out there and I'm freaking out. I get my bloodwork today and there will also be a pregnancy test at the lab today which will be more accurate.
But if I am this will be the end of my VSG journey.. at least for now.
So, off to the lab I go!

Thanks :) If I am then its meant to be, I would have beat a lot of odds, we already have 2 and we were done.
Still sitting in the lab waiting to be called. I am accepting whatever happens.

Took another one today, negative.
Tried tracking my meals yesterday and overdid it on the sodium with a can of creamed mushroom Soup which I diluted and strained nut still ate the whole thing with hot sauce. scale reflects that..back to 284.6.
Was really hungry yesterday and just craving solids.

May have just been a bad test strip then. It can happen.

Don't worry too much about sodium, worry more about the carbs in the Soup. (Of course follow your doc's plan).. but for most of us preop, it's carbs and fat that are to be limited. Sodium, within reason, will help make the diet more comfortable. You don't have to go crazy adding salt, since most things have it in it anyway.

Weight fluctuations are normal, even post op. Might as well get used to it early :)

Thank you. I will keep that in mind. Im so confused, trying to follow my doctor's diet and trying to get ideas off the internet. I will be checking the carb content from now on.

Congratulations. I'm going to be a grandma for the first time. My oldest is due in April and my second oldest in January. It's a 2 for 1 special.

Congratulations :)

Day 3 here. Definitely not getting enough Protein. Only bought vanilla premiere protein and can barely get it down because of the aftertaste. I ordered protein powder online Thursday and because of the holiday, will not receive it until Mon/Tues. I'm waiting on my husband to get home so I can do some liquid food shopping.
Took another test, negative and have cramps so that is the last I will be writing about that.
Went out last night and brought my crystal light with me. Did not miss the alcohol; but had major food cravings. There were Snacks all over the place.
My toddler has been having tantrums all weekend. He's non verbal with limited vocabulary so that's how he shows me he's upset. Despite that I've been trying to give him as many hugs as I can besause I will not be able to hold him for a few weeks.
Ive been having creamed Soup for 1 meal each day and its the only thing that holds me if only for a couple of hours but I feel like I'm cheating, each can has 9g of carbs plus the 1% milk I use. So I'm looking for alternatives.
Oh and I have had no BM in 2 days.
But, I'm down to 281 :)

I think the vanilla is super sweet. I like the chocolate though. I tried a couple different powders and couldn't get them down. The broth and the yogurt are my saving grace right now.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
