Alright, I had some Pho w/ the shrimp and veggies only, but can we eat the noodles?

The noodles, didn't look like Pasta noodles, so I was just curious.

They rice noodles which are worse than Pasta noodles. They are lighter and you can eat more.

If you eat carbs and don't care go for it. They are about 44 carbs per serving, with almost no Fiber less than 2 grams.

Idk honestly the way I look at it...if you have self control and don't indulge in these foods all the time, then it's OK to enjoy yourself and eat pho if you want to PHO SHO lol I'd be super unhappy if I couldn't eat things that I wanted to once in a while.

Wow, I'd think the rice noodles would be better than Pasta, well I tell ya, I'm still learning new things. To be honest, I don't miss the noodles, I just make sure I get extra shrimp, sprouts, and veggies. So dang, good!

Rice noodles are worse because...

  • they are lighter, you can eat more
  • They have slightly less fiber, fiber subtracts from the carb count
  • They have basically no Protein. 1 gram vs 7 in wheat noodles

Wheat spaghetti noodles are better than rice noodles nutrition wise.

So I get take out pho. They keep everything separate. I throw away the rice noodles and substitute my prepared shiritaki noodles. I like the angel hair best, since they have a more rice noodle-like texture. I get mine from vitacost. Google how to prepare the shiritaki noodles. :) It's important. They are 100% soluble fiber from konjac root. I love both the thin (angel hair) and the "rice" shapes the best!

I got the seafood pho w, no noodles. It was so delicious, but I was only able to eat a small amount, obviously. So, delicious!

Oh man!
1.) I love all these Pho puns!
2.) Pho is delicious and now I want all the pho
3.) Shirataki noodles are uhmazing and that's a fantastic idea to substitute them in this dish! They're the perfect consistency!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
