GAINED 4LBs....8 weeks post.

Recommended Posts

@dreamingsmall

Morning: Alternate between Protein Shake, Protein Bar or hard boiled egg

Snack: String cheese with a piece of beef Jerky or sometimes just the cheese or greek yogurt

Lunch: Some form of meat

Snack: Protein bar, or greek yogurt or hummus and veggies

Dinner: Some form of meat with a side

Sometimes my lunch and dinner will have carbs but I can't really eat much by the time I'm done with my protein.

My daily meal plan:

1. 4oz cottage cheese

2. 3.5oz fruit or sweet potato

3. 1 egg and 3oz black Beans

4. Veggies

5. 1oz nuts or seeds

6. 4oz meat or fish

7. 1 cup milk and 2 cups coconut Water

I frequently can't eat it all, but it gives about 1200 calories, 70g Protein, and 75g carbs.

The same every day! Yup.

But since these are food groups, it can be mixed up. One day its hamburger patty and green Beans and sweet potato and another its salmon and zucchini and a peach.

Plain greek yogurt and cottage cheese are interchangeable too.

It's enough variety for me and I love the freedom of not wondering what to eat.

meat is a pain.. I like it freshly cooked, but don't want to cook it several times a day. So keeping it to one meal works for me.

In fact, that used to be the hardest meal to get in, but now when I'm really hungry it is the most satisfying.

My main dish I use all the time is an 8oz bowl. See if you have a container that size. Use your scale for this. You want the container to hold 8oz of Water comfortably; full, but not right up to the brim.

I love this idea! I have a beautiful bowl I bought at a craft fair from a potter whose work I love. It's an eight ounce bowl and I use it for my dinners. I fill it about half way...sometimes , if I'm feeling full, I leave a bite or two...but I always feel comfortable that I haven't over eaten when I eat out of that bowl!

This was really helpful for me too. Thanks for taking the time to write it all out. I also eat meat with just one meal...usually dinner. I love having a scrambled egg because there is no measuring or weighing. I just scramble one egg, and I'm done. I've seen people post on here that they use extra large or jumbo eggs. I'm 4 weeks post-op, and I just use a large egg. It's enough for me right now. :)

Congrats on the scale moving! Your posts are breaking my heart. I've dealt with OCD since childhood (officially diagnosed at the age of 20, I'm now 36). Over the years, I've been able to conquer it pretty well and have worked my way out of a lot of my behaviors, but I definitely still feel it nagging at my mind when I get super stressed. Are you seeing a therapist? I did for a while and it helped me work through it all. Berry is amazing and has given you such wonderful advice (which I will probably refer back to once I get my revision from lap band to either the sleeve or RNY...still slightly up in the air as to which... decisions are extra hard with OCD, as you probably know)! I don't have any additional advice regarding the sleeve, but I'm wondering if all the stress could have been slightly elevating your cortisol levels? That can make us hang onto weight, for sure. If you can follow Berry's great advice and your stress levels are able to come down a bit by doing so, maybe that will also help the weight to start to fall off faster! Best of luck and know you're not alone and OCD can get better/more manageable! [emoji172]

So much great advice here! I don't have any advice but offering support as you work through this challenging time. As my surgery date looms closer, I find myself wondering about eating once I'm able to tolerate regular food. Lately, all I can think about is the liquids I'll be having one week prior and two weeks after surgery. Wondering how in the world I won't lose my mind! But I am determined to get the most use out of tool of sleeve surgery.

Wishing you all the best!

Whew!! I need a nap just reading all this! I can only imagine how tired you are @dreamingsmall from being so stressed. Have you thought of taking a meditation class, or yoga? I don't have OCD, but I have ADD and my anxiety can definitely get the best of me some days and yoga helps.

Thanks @Berry78 for great support on the forum.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
