You probably want to make sure they're whole grain and have nutritious value. I'm only a week out (aug 23) but when I can eat it will be whole grain pita with tuna/chicken salad.

LOVE these, I eat them weekly. I usually get the whole grain ones but will sometimes just get the regular flour depending where I shop.

I make quesadillas, pizza, wraps, tortilla chips, tacos with them and they don't bother my sleeve at all.

ETA: I'm 8 months post op as well.

Jf you mixed it with a lot of lean meat its fine as long as it doesnt upset your tummy.

But its still mostly empty calories/carbs.

I think something like this would be much better

http://www3.netrition.com/josephs_bakery_pita_bread.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwranNBRBhEiwASu908J38iE64ZDSubMMp81hdaeqaJPbAMe3ILftsIlkH4PDOBBx7UEK5LRoCNC0QAvD_BwE

(they sell this at BJ's wholesale)

Less than half the calories, and serves the same purpose

Omg my dream first or close to first meal is tuna/chicken salad with apple slices, Tomato and lettuce if allowed on low carb/whole wheat pita or Tortilla. I'm only 10 days out so it's very very far away [emoji24]

Look at the total carbs not net carbs. There is no actually research supporting net carbs. Net carbs were invented by marketing to cash in on the low carb craze.

You just kinda blew my mind. I had no idea that this was so . . . but read a Web MD article that basically says this. Wow. Those sneaky marketers and their evil ways!

But just saying you counted net carbs doesn't say how many you actually consumed for your daily carb count, and maybe for you your CCL fit in that amount. My NUT says don't use net carbs.

Fiber comes from whole grains, Beans, vegetables, fruits, etc. It is not usable by the body, and lowers the total carb count (net carbs). mayo Clinic says this along with every nutritionist/dietitian I've ever talked with. Fiber is vital to moving the bowels. Now, the fiber in these processed tortillas might not undo the other garbage that is included in them, but the fiber in them does lower the 'net carb count'.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
