I had my consultation appointment moved up to today instead of late FEB. Whoa was I nervous! No sleep for the weekend pretty much. Well I saw the surgeon today and he thinks I'll do wonderfully with the sleeve! I am so thrilled!

I had also started the classes a bit early so he is thinking about 3-5 months out from today is when my surgery will be.

I am so thrilled and the doctor is wonderful and very nice. I was worried, as I always seem to be, about everything. That i'd get told no and on and on.

I also found out from a at home test that my a1c is now 6.1! He was very happy about that.

I am just so over the moon! I know this will be a hard and well fought journey and I now know that the doctor is awesome and his staff is awesome. Really put me at ease! I am ready to fight for a healthy me. I know I can and will do this!

Thank you to those that share your success and mis-steps. it is inspiring to have the honesty that I have found on this and other site!

Congrats! Sounds like everything is going very nicely!!

In an attempt to be helpful, I'll put some info down regarding expected weight loss after surgery/goals. If you find it helpful, great! But please don't let these numbers discourage you. It's good to know what is common/expected, but ultimately your journey is YOUR journey, and you make of it what you will.

At your height, your "ideal" weight is 179lbs.

From a medical standpoint, the surgery will be considered a "success" at 50% of excess weight loss after 2 years. (Your end weight at 257lbs).

People that have had the sleeve lose an average of 65% of their excess weight. If you followed the average, you could expect to end at 234lbs. Remember, average is just that. Some lose more, some less.

Now I believe you can do better than average.. For those that are dedicated to the lifestyle change, 75% to 80% of excess weight loss is quite common. That would put your end weight at 210lbs.

90% excess weight loss: 202lbs

100%: 179lbs.

We see so many people have a goal of losing 100% of their excess weight, but when it doesn't happen, they think something is wrong, and they beat themselves up. Have high hopes, but realistic expectations. Celebrate the losses, enjoy the journey.. and be happy when you end up healthier and happier than where you started... no matter what the scale says...

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
