Hair extensions

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I am almost 7 months post-op. At about 3 months post-op my hairstylist started to see Hair loss. The hair loss has only gotten worse. I had thin hair to begin with. My hairstylist suggested some hair extensions for the crown area. Has anyone tried hair extensions?

There are different types, is she suggesting a weave?Glue ins?Clip ins?

I had extreme Hair loss but extensions would have pulled more hair out. I wore a nice beautiful wig 2 years, and let my hair relax. Biotin for 2 years was a joke. I am 4 years post sleeve and happy hair again.

I didn't think about them causing more damage to my hair. I'll talk to my stylist about it. I dread wearing a wig because I've heard they make your head hot.

Then no. They will rip your hair out during removal , even if they are removed correctly. Seems counter productive. Assuming you are not having your hair done for free there might be other reasons shes mentioning another option lol

Lace front wigs are breathable. You itch your scalp and you can feel your scalp, its not like the wigs you imagine to not be able to to allow your head to breath.

The winter months are fine with the wigs, or indoors. I am in the South, and a trip to NOLA the heat nearly killed me. I only wore the wig when I went certain places, and substituted a visor at the grocery store, etc. you may be luck enough to not lose much hair. You must try a wig on, the three I bought on eBay did not fit my head. THe $160 wig I bought was a wash and wear life saver.

One of the girls I work with actually bleached her hair right off. She wrote beautiful wigs for a free years just because she said it was so much easier to get ready and change your style and they never looked like wigs.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
