I attended a seminar last week and have my consult with the doc on 9/28. I am pretty excited and terrified.

Has anyone dealt with a lack of support from their spouse? My husband is uncommunicative and is against me having surgery. I think he is nervous something will happen because we know someone who had terrible complications. Any thoughts to help me get him on board?

I have had little to no support myself so I sat down and thought about it. I asked myself who am I doing this for, my spouse or me. that is when I figured out it has to be for you. You can not make others happy, that is something they have to find on there own. This is an opportunity to make yourself happy and healthier. Do it for you first if others fall in line after even better.

My husband wasn't negative perse. Like he would go to the gym with me and help me work out but at 2 in the morning he would bring me a Wendy's chicken sandwich and fries. Wake me up out my sleep and tell me to eat..lol but the more positive I was about the surgery and the things we would be able to do afterwards because of my weight loss and because i wiuldnt be so self conscious the more he got on board. The day if was funny because he tried really hard to talk me out of it but it was because he was so afraid of losing me during surgery.

Thank you! That's how I made my decision. I dont have health problems but I'm 44 and know they coming if I don't do this.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
