cantseemytoes 49 Posted August 28, 2017 Last week I got some disappointing news and found myself eating some French fries left behind by my family from their dinner. While I wouldn't usually beat myself up about this, I noticed that it was completely connected to my emotions. I wasn't hungry, I wasn't even craving the fries. I was feeling down and automatically reached for the fries. Today, I found out that one of my kids has been lieing to me, which caused an array of emotions ranging from sadness to anger, and again my mind went to food. I recognized it and didn't feed my emotions, but still, I have discovered that the potention for that pattern still exists inside me and so I had to vent to the only people that could possible understand. 2 Sosewsue61 and GeTnBackuP reacted to this
sleevedshereen 524 Posted August 28, 2017 @cantseemytoesI've been finding myself emotionally eating as well. Also, I find that when I'm losing weight...like I deserve to eat bad as a reward and that is terrible...I'm working on it. If I lose weight I tell my boyfriend "let's go out and celebrate" like that's sooo bad. I'm in a similar situation to you. Dealing with stress of work, school and relationships have caused me to want to revert back to eating for coping and it's super tough. I can totally relate to you. Someone told me that I should remind myself how much I spent on this surgery and how I felt before the surgery....why do we want to go back to that? I think mind over matter and we just have to be stronger and not let things that hurt us cause us to hurt ourselves by over indulging and eating bad again. 4 GeTnBackuP, kandieqvt1, cantseemytoes and 1 other reacted to this
cantseemytoes 49 Posted August 28, 2017 It's a scary thing. I'm 2 yrs post-op and you'd think by now if be over it. I had even deleted this app from my phone, but no one can really understand unless they've been there too. Thank you!Sent from my SM-G935T using BariatricPal mobile app 3 sleevedshereen, TealSister and sleepingbeauty30 reacted to this
godblessedchild 30 Posted October 15, 2017 I'm at that point now, bad eating. I get frustrated when I weight myself and it's not moving so I reach for cookie or a piece of candy
godblessedchild 30 Posted October 15, 2017 I'm a year out and I've only lost 40lbs. But a co-worker who had the bypass told me about the reset, where you start from day one and it will put me back on track. Will try that starting tomorrow. Please pray for me. 2 GeTnBackuP and JadeVT reacted to this
