Anyone getting sleeved on august 30th?

Recommended Posts

Pretty good a little on the tired side. I'm addicted to the scale and have gained some weight. But I put the scale in time out and am hoping it's just shifting fluids. How are you feeling?

I understand completely! I am hoping some of my energy will come back soon. I actually gained 7lbs the day after surgery then I dropped after I started taking in more fluids, then I gained 3lbs overnight! And dropped it slowly. I am on full liquids for 4 weeks (26th) so I think since I'm not taking in a lot of calories my body is in starvation mode which is why it is holding on to my weight and that could be the case with you as well!

Thank God for this site. I feel better just talking to u. I am real good now. On the 6th day after surgery I was able to eat. It's so strange how different each program is.

Like I said before, mine is going up and down. I've lost 13lbs since surgery. And I am on liquids! Meaning I should probably be losing like crazy!! But I'm not. So don't overthink it! Our bodies are in shock right now. And our bodies really want us to hold on to fat cause it's all it's known for so long. Give it time, it will start falling off.

I suffer from OCD and I can't stop obsessing that my doctor messed up on my sleeve and made it too big.
He did my wife's sleeve and I swear mine is bigger.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
