You will be weak for about 2 weeks, trust me it gets better day by day. Get in what you physically can without hurting yourself, it gets easier as the internal swelling goes down. Try the ready made "Premier protien" shakes they are 11 oz and easy to drink I like the banana and strawberry flavor. check out my videos on my Youtube channel for some good advice and what you can expect.

This is normal!! I could only have Clear Liquids for 6 days and then I could introduce protien shakes. I recall day 5 specifically, I woke up, was up for a couple hours, was going to take a shower but laid in bed and took a 4 hour nap! Just exhausted. It'll get better!!

My doc's office suggested I dilute the Protein Shakes early on if they were too sweet. It thinned them, and made them less sweet. Not sure if that would help. I do the Syntrax Nectar, so they are clear, not milky, more like a juice. Not sure if that would help.

@crocodoxie Love the diluting thing. It really takes the sweetness down.

I also add Peanut Butter powder to shakes (choc, van, banana) and it cuts the sweet even more. Do you know if we can use peanut butter powder when we're on full liquids crocodoxie?

The most important things in your firsts weeks postop are the Proteins and Water intake. I take my 3 scoops of Protein a day i also diluted them Just taking small sips and i feel great. I am 7 days postop and yesterday i went to the movies (with my bottle of water of course) and i feel great (yes a little tired sometimes but thats normal).
But e very body is different so dont overwhelmed too much and take one step at a time and drink your protein. You will see you will feel better

I added Peanut Butter powder from the beginning no problem.
Also try unflavored Protein Powder. I used GENEPRO. Add it to some milk to get in extra Protein.< br>The cran grape protein beverage powder isn't very sweet. You may also want to try that. You can order on Amazon or the Bariatric Pal Store. Get the powder. I found the liquid concentrate to be sweeter.
You can also add some spices...i used cinnamon to flavor my shakes.< br>If your doctor allows coffee or tea you can also mix with Protein Shake or unflavored protein powder.
I felt weak and tired for the first couple of weeks too. You are not alone.

Amazon sells Protein Shots that have 42g of Protein. they are 3.8 ounces and kinda syrupy but they really helped my mom. Her hair had started falling out because of her lack of protein. Also, Premier has a clear protein that's like flavored water. I get mine at Sam's.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
