darnell239 0 Posted October 14, 2007 :help:I need some honest opinions especially from people who already have a band. I am one of those people who grazes when it comes to eating. I have a sweet tooth and I do eat alot of carbs. I like mashed potatoes, grits, Peanut Butter and jelly sandwiches, and dairy. I know all surgeries require work but I worry that I can easily cheat the band (I know I have poor will power and that is why I am in the situation I am in). Should I avoid this procedure all together and look at other options or go ahead and give it a try? I would appreciate any input.
mrspruett 0 Posted October 14, 2007 Hi darnell239-first you need to go for a consult and ask your questions to a qualified surgeon. I do know, however, that the amount of food you can eat is severely limited with the band. If you eat your Protein first, as is recommended, you will have very little room for other stuff. I have been banded 6 mos and still cannot eat bread so sandwiches may no longer be an option. You do have to plan your food more. 3 meals and 2 Snacks works well but I am often not hungry and actually dread having to eat. This is a BIG change for me. Goodluck and hope this helps.
