I have lost 43 lbs since 8/7! I’m so excited bc I have never, EVER seen the scale move more than a few lbs of a fad diet. This was the best decision I have ever made! HOWEVER, I think the doctor’s scale is not telling the truth. I was a solid 18 when I started this process, maybe even slightly pushing out of the 18 but 43 lbs down and most my clothes still fit?!! A 16 is still a bit tight? What is happening?! My go-to jeans are finally loose enough to possibly go down a size but a lot of my stuff is fitting just fine. I don’t get it. I know I look better-face is thinner (thank god) and clothes definitely fit better, just assumed that 43 lbs down would mean a new size. Anyone else having this issue??

We had the surgery on the same day and it's roughly 28 lbs for me, but I have a lot more to lose (my starting weight was 319 and my goal weight is roughly 165).

For those with plantar fasciitis, the foot brace definitely helps. Also can use cold/warm therapy. If it is indeed plantar fasciitis the pain should be worse when waking up. It is also worse when walking in bare feet or sandals. If you want to walk you should use sneakers with good arch support. Although surgeons ask you to avoid NSAIDs this is more of an issue with bypass and not as much with sleeve. Ask your surgeon. I myself developed horrible incision site pain and I used NSAIDs + ppi from day 8-21.

I never got a brace from my podiatrist.

I was swimming for exercise but since the weather‘s cooled off I haven’t done that in about two weeks. I guess I need to find a new form of exercise that I enjoy.

I pretty much eat whatever I want- except sweets. I do have carbs, which I know a lot of you don’t. But I enjoy piece of toast in the morning. And if I want something with carbs for dinner I’ll have it. I’m full after about 4-5 bites. So my struggle is if I do eat the carbs then I don’t get the protein- then I can’t b***h if I don’t lose any weight. So every day for the past two weeks I’ve tried to have at least one Protein Shake. And that seems to help.

The weight has come off slower than I thought but I can’t complain. I haven’t been under 300 in about 15 years. So it feel pretty good :-)

I noticed something about myself and I was wondering if others out there were having the same issue. When I'm making myself a plate of food, I'll take a look at 3oz that is on the plate and think, "that is not nearly enough" and add more (yes, I use very small plates). I never can finish it of course but I don't want this to turn into a habit and then over eat. Can anyone offer me any help on how to overcome this?

You buy disposable little plastic containers. I use 2 oz. I will be soon buy 3oz. make your food in advance, pre-pack everything and only eat what you need to.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
