August Sleevers-How are you doing??

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on 8/23. It has been a whole month and I have only lost 25 pounds. I'm a big girl I should have lost more. I'm not eating nearly what I was eating before but staying under 900 calories a day. What is wrong with me? Why am I not losing? I feel like this was all a mistake and I'm going to just stay fat forever. The scale hasn't moved in about 2 weeks and my heart is broken.

I know it's so hard, but 25 lbs in a month is great. I'm sure you've never done that before. Everyone is different, try looking at the percentage of excess weight you lost.

It's so frustrating. I feel ya. I was self pay and was beginning to think I wasted 22grand. Buttttt, if I relax I realize I've lost 32 pounds since August 10. Although I have only lost two in the last four weeks I'm trying to see bigger picture here.

Its hard but hang in there!!! I guess some lose quicker than others. But it has to work!! Right?? I think it eventfully has to :)

My doc said absolutely no gum. I use the breath strips, they're a tiny package that can fit in my pocket.

Why no gum????? I read that but it makes no sense to me!!

My doctor said it was for fear of swallowing it, because it could get stuck or something like that. I have thankfully never been much of a gum chewer.

I felt the same... think I was a little disillusioned about what weight loss would be like and I agree, this cost me $23,000 so I was a little disheartened. Then I looked at the big pic. I stared preop diet on 7/29, sleeved on 8/15 lost a total of 51.6 lbs which I've never EVER done in my life. I get sidetracked because I have SO much weight to lose but I need to not look at the big picture and take it one day at a time

You will lose again!!! And 25lbs in a month is a huge loss. When I feel stagnant I focus on increasing Protein and Water and things move again. Have patience, you didn't gain the weight overnight either.

Trouble with the craving of potatoes and salt... I've been great on the food but this weekend I want potato and ketchup so bad. What do you guys do to get through it. I'm at the point where maybe I'm bite won't hurt

I crave and miss potato chips and I am at stage four of what I can eat now. Boiled potato is on my list so I mash up a boiled potato and put a little salt on it. I don't see a huge difference between boiled and baked so I also had one baked. They are small but I at least get the potato taste. We have no potato chips in the house!

I was looking up recipes to find ways to satisfy my potato chip craving. I also did thr boiled and baked potato thing. That did help. I'll let you know how I make out on the "chip " thing.

Why not cream of potato Soup made with milk to help get your Protein numbers up?

So far this month, I've lost 8,5 kg (or 18,7 lbs) and I'm five (5) days away from being one month post-op. Since my excess weight is 79,7 kg, I've already surpassed the 10% mark.

She told me it will put air in my stomach. No drinking out of a straw either for the same reason.

So I have done great with Water and Protein until 2 days ago. I am 3wks & 3days out. I am now having nausea not stop and food sounds awful to me. Has anyone else struggled like this? I vomited last night, otherwise just nausea.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
