August Sleevers-How are you doing??

So today is my 1 year Anniversary.

I have lost 160lbs as of this morning (95.8% of excess weight)

i am off 2 blood pressure meds and my Metformin

My sleep Apnea is gone and my memory has slowly gotten better over the last year.

I am around 1 month (at current monthly weight loss) from switching to maintenance

i plan to post a current picture later today. i will add the pre op pic that is already there if i can figure out how to get both together.

I want to thank all of you for the comradery during the last year. Reading everyone's journey made mine easier to work thru and help me get a sense of what this was like from so my different places.

I know i was very lucky- first just getting the surgery as it is harder to get approved than i realized.

I had a very pain free post op and i see now that is not always the case

I also landed on the above average side of the average weight loss for this type of surgery

This has nothing to do with calories in because we all know how little we can eat post op.

As a man i got luckier(unfair) in the hormone dept than you ladies and since weight loss and gain is Hormone driven i have come to believe it is just a bit easier for men to maximize the results from the sleeve.

Once again you ladies are forced to work harder and longer to get the same :(

I am going to miss you all but i will not be around a day to day basis anymore.

My plan after today is drop back in a few months and let you know how maintaining my weight is going.

I wish all of you the best and know that no matter if the weight loss comes quick or slow you can get there if you hold true to the plan and stay faithful to yourself that you are worth all the effort you put into this and don't let anyone tell you anything different.

good luck

CONGRATULATIONS CHAMP!

Lol, it does surprise me that statistically women far outnumber men in getting weight loss surgery, when the male body responds so well to it. I'm only going anecdotally off what I read here, or from people at my clinic, but the weight seems to fly off men.

it's the anesthesia that is causing the major headache. I took excedrin Migraine or just caffeine in some coffee. Good luck

Everyone is looking SO fantastic! My anniversary date (1 year) was on Aug 22. I've lost 101 pounds and am 1 measly pound away from "normal BMI". That pound is stubborn! My husband's 1 year anniversary is on Sep 12 and he's lost 113 pounds. Here are some before and after pics of us. The before pic was taken in Feb 2016 and is combined with an after pic taken this February (2018). The pic with the bikes was taken just this past weekend. We couldn't be more thrilled with the results!

You are all so inspiring!

liquid gabapentin is like **** directly from satans ass hole. I take all my meds in solid pill form just over a long period of time.

Still no poo [emoji23] on day three of Miralax. Contemplating the murder and BBQ of my adorable dog.

I had my sleeve on Tuesday 8/28, came home Wed morning. Pain has been manageable on tylenol, gas pain aided with walking. I also can't get in all the shakes they want but I haven't had nausea or vomiting. Moving in bed is hard until I realized to use my feet and shift and not try to use my body. I'm down 4.8 lbs since the surgery, I must have had a heavy stomach! It's really not as bad overall as I thought it would be. I'm just bored with the liquids and look forward to progressing to soft. Hang in there!

I was sleeved on8/16. My surgeon follows a 2 week clear liquid plan the progression to full liquid etc. I just started full liquids yesterday . I was so excited until... diarrhea. I made a cream of chicken Soup with 2% milk- 15 mins- after I ate- cramping and RUNNING to the bathroom. I thought it was the milk so I tried a soy milk in a Protein Shake later in the evening - same . Today tried a premix Premier Protein shake same issue; got thru about 5 oz and was running. Has anyone expirenced this? How long does it last? I return to work Monday and am concerned for how I will get thru the 12 hr shift with this - I might have to resume Clear Liquids for work days?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
