August Sleevers-How are you doing??

Recommended Posts

Having a hard time the last couple of weeks. Sleeved on 8/21. Down 40 lbs since pre op diet, and weight loss has slowed to a crawl. Starting weight was 242, and no I am almost to onderland but have not lost for 2 weeks. I know I am not eating too much, and the hunger is still gone, but dang the lbs were just melting off and now nothing. I feel good where I am, and people are noticing my weight loss but I still have about 50 to go, and i hope it comes off... I have gone down 1 pant size to a 14, but had those hidden in the back of my closet, so I didn't have to buy anything. Just wondering when this stall is going to break. I know I should be thankful that my weight loss is slow, everyone keeps telling me it helps to not have saggy skin, but dang. I am impatient. Hope everyone else is doing well. I know I am only 2 months out, but it seems like forever and it also seems like people have lost a lot more weight at this point. [emoji20]

I feel the exact same way. Was sleeved Aug 14 and lost since preop 37 pounds and for the past 2 weeks stuck at 257. Starting weight was 286. So frustrated but I know my choices in eating chips and carbs has something to do with it. Actually it might have everything to do with it. I try to hit my Protein goals and Water before I have any carbs..if that even helps. Averaging about 700-1000 call everyday. I feel like I'm blowing it. The surgery will go to waste. I keep sabotaging myself and I can't seem to stop. Ughh

@soready17 i feel your pain i self sabotage too. I haven't lost any weight since 9/26 down a total of 39 lbs only 14 since surgery on 8/11. Starting weight 256.6 in November 2016. I have been eating chips (not many like 3 or 4) and cake (like 3 oz) not a lot but I know I shouldn't! So please don't shame me I'm already shaming myself for being stupid... anyways I don't get sick when I eat these things and they are part of the old me which I cant seem to get rid off. At first when I started drinking and eating and I felt zero restriction/pain/sickness I thought surgery had failed... but my dr assumers me I'm doing well. Trying out hey back on track

The reason why I eat those carbs/chips is because they don't make me feel uncomfortable and they sit reeeeally well in my little tummy. When I eat meat my stomach make crazy sounds and it just doesn't feel good. Obviously that's not the only reason...I'm not seeing the scale move so mentally I'm saying fu** it. I'll just eat whatever which is what got me to my highest weight at 313 lbs. I guess I should be happy about not binging with countless Cookies and chips but with just one mini bag of cheezit. Still the idea behind the binge is making me feel out of control and scared! I don't want to fail but my actions are speaking louder then my words. I guess the first step is to actually admit I'm sabotaging myself and to be patient with the process and stay consistent! Ugh I need help.

I noticed something about myself and I was wondering if others out there were having the same issue. When I'm making myself a plate of food, I'll take a look at 3oz that is on the plate and think, "that is not nearly enough" and add more (yes, I use very small plates). I never can finish it of course but I don't want this to turn into a habit and then over eat. Can anyone offer me any help on how to overcome this?

I do that with almost every meal, almost every day. My husband will always say that's too much food you're going to feel sick and I always get pissed at him for saying so. But he's always right. I guess it's just gonna take time for us to get used to it. It's a weird concept for just a few bites makes is full.

I read to fill ice cubes trays with your meals. And freeze them and just defrost one cube a meal. That sounds insane to me and I've never done it but it might work for some.

I do this too! One thing I try to tell myself is that I can get seconds. If I tell myself there is nothing stopping me from refilling my plate, that helps me get over that block, because when the time comes I am too full to actually do it.

I can eat around 4-5 ounces per meal now without too much difficulty. It depends on the food. If I go too far, I have found I get a little warning, where my body sort of tells me I am entirely full and need to stop right away. I don't mean I eat until I'm nauseous or in pain, because I don't. But I do get a little shift in my stomach that happens when I need to knock it off. If I do, no harm, no foul. If I do not and I try and have one or two more bites, I'll end up on the couch holding my belly. I've never pushed it further than that though, as I don't want to end up puking.

Same with me.... easily do about 3.75-4.0 oz per lunch and dinner

shakes for Breakfast

I can tell when it's too much but that amount and a tiny bit of veggie is good

no snacking in between for me. Down 63 lbs since my sleeve on 8/15

Sleeved on 8th August, have lost 49 pounds but this last week, i have put on two, lost the 2, then put it Back on again!. However, the tape measure says I’m losing. I walk a mile a day and have started swimming. I struggle with the Water, it gets me down. At the moment I hate meal times as I have no appetite and have to force myself to eat, and can’t find anything I really fancy except a Big Mac!

Usually, after a couple of bites, I feel sick! Also if I do manage to eat too much then it makes me sneeze. 😂. I’m worried that the whole thing is taking over my life! And sometimes I regret it! But I do love the fact that I’m going down in dress sizes and feel a lot more energized. I’m too impatient, and worry all the time that I won’t lose anymore even though I know that’s crazy. My husband is brill anD keeps me motivated ❤️.

My doctor still has me at only 2 oz or a quarter of a cup per meal. To stay on that I bought those little 2 oz plastic cups at Walmart. And I've been using a scale for some things.

I've only lost 20 pounds in the last 2 months and I also tell myself that's ok because maybe it will prevent the skin from sagging too much, but it is frustrating. And the 2 ounces don't always satisfy me so I have cheated a little but not too much. I'm still limited though in what I'm allowed to eat. No raw vegetables or fruit, except for mushier fruit, until about the 6 month mark. Still not supposed to eat beef and I found out why. I had 2 ounces of hamburger for the past two evenings and my stomach has been upset ever since. I'm mainly eating fish and chicken, some eggs, and cheese because I can't give up the cheese. Most days I'm only getting about 600-700 calories, which includes 300 for my 2 Protein Shakes. I'm wondering if it's slowing my weight loss but that is what they say that I should limit myself to.

I'm down 11,5 kg (25 lbs) since the surgery and 16,5 kg (35 lbs) since going on the pre-op diet. While it is going slower than I would like, I must say, I like the trend of my weight going DOWN rather than up.

This is something sort of funny you guys may appreciate...

I think one of the reasons my co-workers may not have noticed I'm eating so differently is because I bring in sweets semi-regularly these days. The thing is, I don't do it to be nice, I do it to get junk food the #$%@ out of my house. Neighbor sends a plate of Cookies? Take 'em to work, get 'em out of my face. Brother sends us some fancy caramel corn as a thank you? Caramel corn for the office.

And of course I eat none of it.

Thank you all for your previous replies on my other post. My next question to you all is do you have a favorite website, cookbook, etc that you get recipes from?

I have this stupid problem. I cook for my family. Healthy -and food I can eat. Tonight was mini cauliflower cheese soufflé, quinoa spinach feta salad, and chicken breast. The problem is as I'm cooking I'm tasting ( more salt /pepper /garlic etc). I'm also starving while I'm cooking so tonight I ate a tsp of Whole Foods fresh grind Peanut Butter to take the edge off. By the time everyone sits for dinner I can't eat because tummy full with tasting. Feeling out of control- I can't wait to eat with my family as I'm hungry and then taste everything as I want the food to taste good for everyone. Venting here!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
