Recommendations for Surgeons PA-Southcentral

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am meeting with Hopkins regarding the endoscopic sleeve procedure in Baltimore but also wanted to look into a regular gastric sleeve. I am self pay and looking for recommendations for surgeons in my area. York, Harrisburg, Lancaster. I could go as far as Philly but it there are a lot of trips for nutritionists, having the meetings on line would be preferred. Thanks!

I am currently going through the program at Penn State Surgical Weight Loss in Middletown, Pa. I travel an hour and a half one way to see them monthly. I couldn't recommend them more. The staff is wonderful.

Could you tell me if you are self pay? I contacted them and they told me that it is $50,000 because of the relationship with the university and hospital and that basically it is too expensive if I am self pay. They were my first choice because of where I live.

I'm going through UPMC Pinnacle Health Weight Loss Center in Harrisburg (surgery is at
UPMC Pinnacle Osteopathic) Dr Rosenberger will be doing mine. The clinbic gives you a team environment. I waqs sold on them the first time I called after an appt and the recording said, press one if you are calling from a Drs office OR if you need to talk to your team. Most offices have you 3rd or 4th on the list. Here you are the prioirty. All the employees are awesome, my nutritionist is fab and friendly, and several of their employees have had weight loss surgery. Even the nurse at the hospital bariatric floor had WLS. When I had the EGD done, Dr Rosenberger came into the surgery smiling and singing to me. Gotta love happy people. From others I know, that had one of the other Drs, Dr. Marco, they all really like him too . My surgery isn't until Dec 13 2017, but they all have made me feel confident in my choice. and I'm excited!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
