Hey all,

So I have started a new journey I have been pescatarian for 2 months. I love it any ideas how this will effect my upcoming surgery?

I became vegan few months ago. My surgery is in about ten days. I saw my surgeon yesterday and we talked about it. He said he doesn't have anything against it as long as I keep track of the amount of Protein that I will get. For you should be even easier. I don't know if you eat eggs, milk and derivate. If no, pay attention to the Protein Shakes. There are today many good protein shakes that are vegan. Good luck

What is a pescatarian?

According to the internet, a pescatarian (or pescetarian) is a person who eats seafood but not other types of meat. Pescatarians are similar to vegetarians, but the difference is that pescatarians eat fish and shellfish in addition to an otherwise vegetarian diet.

You should check out Dr. Duc Vuong (Dr. V) on YouTube. He has a whole series on weight loss surgeries and he recommends the pescatarian lifestyle. His videos are great, but I'm not a fan of the fishes.

I'm on a Pesceterian diet now but pre-op I ate any kind of meat. It probably won't effect you as long as you get in enough Protein every day. I eat mostly shrimp and scallops with any kind of vegetable I like. I rarely eat fish now.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
