I was eating Buffalo chicken dip during the puree stage. No issues.

No problems here with spicy food! Was adding massive quantities of ginger, garlic and sriacha to my Bone Broth.< br />
I think if you're someone who had digestive issues or issues with spicy food prior to surgery, that's a different matter. But if you were a lover of casein, garlic and ginger - you will most likely be ok.

Like all things post-surgery, start slow with what you are introducing to your diet and see how it goes.

I find, however, that I don't crave spicy food as much as I used to and food tastes different (more flavorful).

I also had a very salty palate pre-surgery and now use little to no salt.

I was worried about spicy food before surgery, but I'm 2.5 weeks out now and loving the heat. Haven't had any issues from that, my only negatives have been food that is too heavy/fatty. Traditional refried Beans vs. vegetarian ones, beef vs. chicken, that sort of thing.

I love spicy food. Three weeks out and had no problems with it (: like someone else said above.. If you had no problems before with spicy, probably won't after

Wow. Surprised at all of the people that can handle the spicy food.

I am the opposite of all of you.

I am a longtime lover of spicy food. I am the person who had to have sriacha AND fresh jalepenos with everything. It was crazy. Well, i had my sleeve surgery over 9 months ago, and I am here to tell you that I can no longer eat spicy foods. I find that it burns my mouth/tongue like crazy, that it burns in the stomach and chest.

Please take it slowly. Also, give your tummy time to heal.

Most folks are on a oral antacid, protonics, Zantac or something. This allows us to eat spicy. As the antacids are removed we may have more problems with heartburn and spicy foods.

I went off the antacids 3 days after surgery. I suppose I was lucky. No nausea, acid reflux, etc

If only I would stop shedding massive amounts of hair.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
