hi elchew,

what's BC/BS?

i found my doctor on this website. he and his staff are amazing!

but you can tool around here and read about the various doctors in our area.

we have alot of choices in houston.

www.lapband.com also has doctors in the area. it is sponsored by the participating doctors..so keep this in mind

but i recommend this site "Lapbandtalk.com" because people are really honest . use the search function above

good luck. it is the best decision i've ever made.

I want to say thanks for the input and for the PMs I have received on Dr’s in the Houston area.

I have found Dr Waggoner at Journey Lite. There is more then a few Dr’s to pick from here in Houston. I chose to go with Journey Lite because of the after care.

Thanks once again

E

elchewtoy!!!

i went through journeylite of houston, but my surgeon is Dr St Laurent. i love him, his staff are amazing too.

Looks like we will be in the same support groups, (if i can find them place again) every time i go down i get lost. i live in maine but went to houston to be banded specificly by dr st. laurent. His stats were very favorable. I wound up setting up a winter place down in galveston to come back to for the winter.

anyway, NICE TO MEET YOU!!! and maybe we will see each other at the support group meetings.

I am being banded in November by Dr Turnquest in Houston. I really liked him and his staff. Don't know if he takes BC/BS but it's worth a look. Good luck!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
