This is another thing that varies by doctor. But generally they want you to fast before a fill. I would't eat anything in the morning. Basically they don't want anything stuck in your band when you go for a fill. Which we all know can take hours for something to pass. Good luck with your fill. If you get woozy at all with needles make sure you let the doctor know before hand.

My doctor requires a liquid diet on the day of the fill. (Before the fill and then 12 hours after the fill)

And don't worry it just feels like a little pinch :Banane10:

Good Luck!!

Of course every Dr is different but my doctor says no food or drink 4 hours prior to the fill. Then after the fill he will let you know now long of a liquid diet to stay on. I've been on a liquid diet afterwards anywhere from 24 hours to 4 days. I think it just depends on the restriction you get.

No restrictions by my doctor before the fill, just after. I opt to go without eating or drinking that day. It really shouldn't matter, they're probably wary of having the stoma irritated, and that impacting the fill. I don't eat/drink because I want the scale to represent my weight, not how thirsty I was or how big of a meal I ate. :Banane10:

I have to be on liquids the day of the fill , if your fill is at 2 , I would not eat when you get up and call and ask them . Or can you find anyone on the boards that has the same doc you do and see what his policy is ??

My doctor doesn't tell me to do anything special for fills. I normally eat the inside of an Arby's sandwhich on our way there.

My doctor requires nothing but liquids for 8 hours before a fill. He requires me to stop drinking one hour before the fill. He specifically recommend drinking Protein shakes to help deal with hunger.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
