GassyGurl 428 Posted August 23, 2017 I am a rare case. It's not unusual to get hives after a major body trauma like surgery. I developed idiopathic urticaria (hives and itching) after my c section in 1991. Most people it's short term, but I've itched every single day since then. Every day! All over. Using a comb, leaves whelp a on my head. Toweling off triggers an itching attack. Been on various meds over the years, but currently taking Zyrtec. Benadryl and benadryl cream is also good.
