apu 84 Posted August 24, 2017 It depends how frequently you experience heartburn. I never found I needed a PPI like Losec or Prilosec. I had my first bout of reflux today, 3 weeks post op. It felt like I was constantly hungry, took 3 tums and it killed the sensation. Tums are just Calcium tabs so very safe. You could also try OTC Zantac or Pepcid for as need relief. PPIs need a couple of days to start working properly so they meant for folks with more chronic reflux concerns. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
