My Doctor prescribed me omeprazole (Prilosec generic). I guess it is really working since I have had no issues since surgery. You can get it OTC.

I am also on omeprazole. I would suggest Prilosec otc and start with 2 pills to see if that knocks it out.

I am. I have been swallowing my Vitamins since 3 days post-op.

It depends how frequently you experience heartburn. I never found I needed a PPI like Losec or Prilosec. I had my first bout of reflux today, 3 weeks post op. It felt like I was constantly hungry, took 3 tums and it killed the sensation. Tums are just Calcium tabs so very safe. You could also try OTC Zantac or Pepcid for as need relief. PPIs need a couple of days to start working properly so they meant for folks with more chronic reflux concerns.
