Hello. Tomorrow is my psych visit. I'm not sure how I feel. I'm excited because it will be another appointment I can mark off my list but also nervous of the unknown. I've already seen the cardiologist and I don't have to do a stress test! I did have to do an echo and will get the results this upcoming Monday 8/28. I'm being positive that he will clear me. I don't have my pulmonologist visit until late Sept. I'm on the 3 month multi supervision plan with Aetna but with my pulmonologist appt being so late is making it more like 4 months. But I'm just educating myself in this time. I'm excited! I need this for my health and to be more active with my kids. Thx for this forum...I just needed to get this out.

I was nervous about my psych visit, too (I'm just about 2 years post-op). It actually turned out to be nothing to worry about. I took a long written psych evaluation test (multiple choice) and then had a conversation with the psychiatrist. The primary purpose seemed to be to get a handle on how willing you are to follow the recommendations for the surgery. The fact that you are working through your 3 month supervision plan and seeking out answers to things that you are nervous about suggests that you are doing all of the right things. No need to stress about tomorrow. Good luck!

Thank you. I know I needed to hear that!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
