I had gastric bypass March 8th. So I'm almost 6 months out. As of this morning I'm down 97 pounds. To date I have lost a minimal amount of hair. This has been my biggest fear. My hair is my best feature. I have always had long, thick, and extremely healthy hair. Do you think I've made it through or is there still a chance Hair loss can occur?

I'm concerned about Hair loss too. What vitamins/supplements do you take?

I hope you are out of the woods! [emoji4]

I take bariactiv Vitamins. I also take 10,000 milligrams of Biotin daily.

I know some of you may think this is shallow and not deserving of an answer but you don't know what growing up was like. Aside from my family I've only received complements on my hair. People have literally told me. You are getting bigger and bigger but your hair is still pretty. All through high school I was picked on about my weight. The only defense I had was I may be fat but you're bald. I can always loose weight but you can't grow hair or I could cut off the amount of hair that you have and still have more hair than you. My hair was literally the only thing I had that people didn't pick on me about. I don't have pretty teeth or pretty skin. I only have nice hair. Even though I'm almost 100 pounds down I still feel like my hair is the only thing that I can before proud of. I feel like if I lose my hair I will go back to being that sad miserable girl everyone picked on. My mind still hasn't caught up with this smaller body.

My doctor's office said that Hair loss is the most common in the first 6 months and usually levels off by 12 months. So, there may be some risk you could start losing but I think it's very low. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!

Not shallow at all!!!!! I have a similar experience. My hair is my thing and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't experience any Hair loss, and trying to remember that it's temporary!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
