Losing, your time is awesome! How long before starting this program were you running for? I'm gonna go to a local track tonight and give day 1 a go, but I am so nervous!!!!!

well, I've only run once before, and I totally didn't run for 60 seconds then walk for 90, then be able to run again for 60. You are so awesome. I'm going to the track tonight, so we'll see what happens!!!

There is a 4 mile run on New Years in Central Park (live in NYC). My brother thinks I could try to do it with him. That is 2 1/2 months away. Should I go for it? He says that I could totally just walk if I get tired. It is right before midnight, .are at the end. Sounds fun or am I setting myself up for failure and humiliation? The downside is my brother says it is very very cold!

jm - try to do it ... even if your 'run' is 2.0 mph ... we can build up the speed. there is a great post by jacqui in the other C25K thread ( http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f81/couch-5k-42879/#post590308 ) . she is a wonderful runner and makes excellent points!

WE CAN SO DO THIS!!

KarenG - i think if you could handle the frigid temp, i say try it... sounds like you have a great supportive brother!

Ok guys i just did my second workout. It was great. I was able to do all the run intervals. The new shoes made such a big differance. With my old shoes, when i was finshed the first time my heels hurt so bad this time they are great. I feel like I could go again.

Karen G- do it with your brother, it will gove you something to work for. If you have to walk at some point there is no shame in that.

KarenG-go for it!

Losing, I just got back from the gym....and I did my first workout.

Let me preface this by saying that I really wanted to do it outdoors, and the weather here is perfect, so we drove to 3 different tracks-all with no lighting, and I couldn't see a damn thing. Then I realized that the ipod was dead....so pissed. I ended up coming home for a half an hour, charged up the battery and persevered onto the gym for my last attempt at my first couch to 5k workout.

The gym was packed, I hate that, and there were a bunch of jokes there acting like it was some kind of pick up joint, but I ignored it this time. I kept thinking of you and how I really wanted to start this program, and how I hadn't exercised since last tuesday (bad couple of weeks). I jumped on the treadmill and started slow with the podcast blaring in my ears. The music was awesome, made me really want to keep going.

Unfortunately I skipped 2 of the runs, but during the "runs" I jacked up the incline to 5.5. My fasted speed was 4.7mph, but that was only once, and not for the whole 60 seconds. I'm sorta proud of myself, I never for once thought I'd be at the gym, packed to the gills, running on a treadmill. Like a normal person. I can't wait for wednesday....if I'm not too sore!

I think I might just try to do the run. I am a little sore today so I went swimming. 35 minutes of laps. Still sore :) but ready for day #2 tomorrow! What kind of stretching are you guys doing? Are you doing any exercise on the in between days?

ariel,

superb ... wow - your 2nd workout already! :)

jm,

great job!! remember as jacqui told me and i (very begrudgingly) complied - dont necessarily go for speed ... i had a hard time getting it thru my thick head ... it took all i had to only go 4.2 max today ... but i got an incredible workout!

keep up the excellent work everyone. tomorrow is my running day off. i have 1/2 hour session with my trainer and will probably interval steps and treadmill or just do 1/2 hour on the elliptical (bleh..)

i also have a fill scheduled for tomorrow ... hopefully this will get me back into the eating right cycle.

karen g,

(i really need to refresh before i post) :) dont want to miss anyone...

i think you'd do very good on the run - especially since you are doing this program!!

35 mins of laps! that is amazing ... i can barely do 2 at one time without getting winded!

there is a stretching guide on coolrunning - it is here - Cool Running :: Stay Loose: Stretches for Runners

i try to go to the gym 6 times a week. Thursdays i have a full hour with my trainer, the others i do cardio 4x/week and some weights/ab work 1-2 other times.

i also just spent 80bucks on T-Tapp and havent tried it yet ... :)

grrrrr ... craving chocolate!!!

Well my second "run" seemed much easier than the first. I had no problem with the running-but of course I was not going real fast. Usually I walk, hike or do yoga everyday, so I will continue to do those activities on off days. I think I will start taking glucosamine-chondroitin supplements again. I think I will go through the first two weeks, then I will get myself some nice shoes. My butt is fine today! (TMI?):heh:

Yeah, actually I'm so not as sore as I thought I'd be! I was scared last night while I was lying in bed, my feet were hurting, my legs were hurting, I guess a good hurt, but I thought I'd be in trouble today. Tonight I have an hour with the trainer and an hour spin class, ugh!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
