I'm looking to set myself up for success after surgery. What have you found to be "must-haves" after surgery?

I've had some suggestions like a scale, an air fryer, etc. But I'm sure all of you have some excellent suggestions.

thank you in advance!

Comfortable pillows and a place where you can sleep upright for a few days. What I've needed most is patience!!!

Also--my mom brought me a teacup that has a lid. I can put tea or broth in it and drink as slowly as I need to and put the lid back on when I need a break.

Love my Blender bottles for my Protein Shakes. Love my heating pad. And most of all, a good sense of humor! Oh...and if you have bathroom issues, dear goodness, it's a journey. It took me FOREVER to go -- Smooth Moves Tea is the only thing that helped when DuraEase/and Miralax did nothing. I have baby spoons as well, to make sure I take tiny bits of food at a time, and forces me to eat slower. So glad I did that.

What does the heating pad help with?

Heating pad is a must, it alleviates the soreness of your incisions and warms up your core. I am 12 days out and still use it.

Yeah I got one at Walmart for like 12.00. Makes my tummy feel better after a walk or any pain I have. Also I have used my pill splitter more than I thought. I got Constipation and I bought Gummy Fiber and worked great.

A heating pad and big pillow helped me the most post-op... And comfy clothes.

Look up Dr. Duc Vuong, support surgeon on YouTube or Facebook. Watch his videos. I recently discovered them and although two months post op only, I wish I would have had those before or immediately after surgery.

He is a firm believer in getting your mind right. By journaling and meditating. The more I look into meditation, the more amazing it is and I am starting to do it.

I wish I was watching his videos, range from a few minutes to an hour or so, rather than just watching Hulu or Netflix that first week post op.

Good luck!

For me, the heating pad also helped my back when I'd twist funny to try to get out of bed, or whatever. It was soothing for whatever ailed me.

I bought a new Ninja blender and made smoothies from Protein Drinks. I was never a powder Protein person, but the ready to drink ones are great in a blender with some sugar free flavored Syrup and ice. Also when you start on solid foods, the air fryer is great investment. i am 12 weeks out and bought one a couple weeks ago. It is awesome!

This is going to sound simplistic...but for me...I was so happy to have cottage cheese, sugar free ices, and chicken broth.< br>I also needed stool softener, and benedryl spray for when my incisions started to itch when healing.
I have a reclining chair which is nice to find a comfy position...try to get some loose pants or a night gown.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
