Drinking too much????

Recommended Posts

I was banded on Oct. 9th. I won't know if I've lost any weight until Wed. when I see my Doctor. I am worried that I'm drinking too much. Is that possible? I don't want to stretch the new pouch they created. Does the 2-4 oz rule apply to liquids too? I can drink an entire can of Slimfast (11 oz) with no problem. Is this ok? How many should I drink a day? Please help!!!!

I think you should probably ask your doc just to be safe. But I would think as long as your not chugging them or gulping them your ok.

You do not have any restriction right now . The first 6 weeks post op is about healing not loosing weight as much . You need to make sure you stay hydrated. I remember drinking pretty much all day long the first 2 weeks post op . So i would think your ok. Just double check with your doc they are all different

I dont think so either. I remember feeling very deydrated post op and was always drinking too. however I was not worried about streching my pouch.

My doc did tell me to drink drink drink.

I think a good rule of thumb is anytime your worried about something call your doc and make sure. espically since everyone's doc has such different advice .

I try not to say " that is ok" because my doc might have different advice .

Your doc would rather you call and ask then not .

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
