Broccoli and cauliflower are pretty tough to eat early on no matter what you do with them. Especially if it becomes a "golden" morsel. Everyone has a different experience but I certainly would not advise it. What does their NUT say?

NO! First of all, it's not a soft food. Second, I very much doubt the GI tract could handle that gassy roughage that soon after surgyer.

Agree with rte837. The Fiber, even if you purée, could be a problem.

They can try one and see how it goes. As long as it is mushy it might work. (The tough stem is a no-go, but the tender top might be ok).

Starchy Beans are also full of fiber but they squish down nice and smooth, so they usually work well.

No they are not considered soft foods just because they may be soft when you eat them! Too much roughage for your new pouch! They were listed on my regular solid food stage.

I could have cooked veggies after a week and I often had broccoli. No problems. I could eat maybe one floret, so it's really not that much roughage. I'd cook them and they be pretty soft. My program went from liquids for a week to the ability to eat soft foods after one week (eggs, tuna, tofu, cooked veg, etc). My team encouraged cooked veg.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
