Long term statistics on weight maintenance?

Recommended Posts

I know this is something I want to do, but I'm nervous about the long term weight gain I have heard about. Is there information to read up on? I eat pretty intuitively/healthy now after a lifetime of yoyo dieting, but I don't want to undergo major surgery just to keep yoyo'ing. How is weight set point factored in with this surgery? Are their consequences to bariatric restriction like there are with dieting?

Just remember to eat your Protein first, I have shakes on hand and six star unflavored Protein Powder always on hand even Liquid Protein I can add to sf Jello, I'm two months

Doctor says I should be loosing more and I strayed for awhile when I was able to eat more foods but started getting back to protein and shakes and my weight is going back down slowly. We didn't gain it overnight so I don't expect to lose it overnight, I'm active about 3 or 4 days a week, exercising at the gym or alot of yard work at least 3 hours or more

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
