DeeDee83 0 Posted August 17, 2017 Good Morning Group, My name is DeeDee and I am on my 2 1/2 - 3 week post-op Gastric Bypass journey. During my journey so far I have endure many different feelings and I wanted to know if anyone out there has been through the same or similar? Some days I feel I have made the right decision for my health and life, on other days I feel like I made a mistake. I think I feel like this because of the struggles each day to abide by the restrictions that it takes to maintain my health goals. I just have a fear that I may not being doing enough since being home. I see my surgeon and nutritionist in two days for my follow-up. Some days I am happy and others I cry when it seems difficult to even think about other responsibilities and tasks. Is this normal?
James Marusek 5,244 Posted August 17, 2017 I think after surgery, I was too busy trying to follow the detailed guidelines I was given than to rethink my decision to have surgery. There were a lot of challenges that had to be overcome along the way. It wasn't until around the 6th month that all the problems seemed to dissolve away and I reached a "Happy State". So my recommendations is to give it some time. Also you may be experiencing one of the side effects from weight loss. As you lose weight, the chemicals and hormones that were stored in your fat cells are being released into your body. These will pass through your kidneys and are expelled in your urine. But they can generate a flush of hormones during the weight loss phase. They should simmer down once you transition into maintenance. It is important to meet your daily Fluid requirements, because it take fluids to flush these hormones from your system. 1 FluffyChix reacted to this
Precious517 56 Posted August 17, 2017 I'm feeling the same way. My Dr said that these feelings are common after bariatric surgery. Along with James has said, I no longer have food for comfort. I have scheduled a psych appt as suggested by my Dr. Feel better soon!! 1 FluffyChix reacted to this
