Hi friends,

My surgery was 10/28/16 and I've done really well! Starting weight was 345 and now down to 255....

I recently moved from NY to Florida and the big move has had me stressed. I have been fluctuating between the same 5 pound mark and I need to get past it. I've seen on here some people do a pouch reset?

If anyone could tell me how that works and any tips, it'd be much appreciated!

-Chris

You aren't even a year out, I don't think they would do a reset that soon, would they?

I think what you aught to do is look at your food intake, Protein, carbs, fats, sodium, etc. Use one of the apps. Then also track your steps and make sure you are getting your 10K a day. How are you doing on your Water?

I think that maybe you can just refocus yourself and get back on track rather than going through another procedure so soon.

What do you do to maintain your diet and exercise? Are you tracking stuff? If you list/copy from the app what you eat and drink in a day and your exercise stuff we can probably help you dial it to something that will be more effective for you.

@LittleLizzieLilliput we're supposed to be doing 10k a day? That's 6 miles! I'm way behind then...

oops I read that wrong...you meant 10,000 steps a day! Lol

@SleeveMeAlone214

pouch reset is just a fad diet.

Just eat Protein first and protein alone, If you eat dense protein (something that has to be cut with a knife) you will be full for longer, and your body has to burn calories to process that meat. It is a lot better for you than drinking calories. You can't live off a liquid diet forever, you can eat protein forever though, with lots of variety.

You can't out exercise a bad diet. You can erase 2 hours in the gym in 2 minutes with a bad food choice.

We don't have pouches.....we've got sleeves, whereas gastric bypass patients have stomach pouches with simple stomas.

The 5-day pouch reset was thought up by a quasi-journalist who regained several years after her bypass surgery. It is designed for bypass folks, not sleeved people.

You can certainly complete a pouch reset with your sleeve. However, it will be ineffective without a permanent lifestyle change.

To bust your stall, start doing the things that resulted in your 90+ pound post-op weight loss. Stop doing the things that have resulted in your current stall/plateau.

Good luck to you. You got this. :)

      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

        Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
