Protein powder question

Recommended Posts

I am wanting to get my Protein Powder on Amazon, I found Nuticost whey Protein Isolate. Does anyone use this brand? Or could someone recommend a good brand that isn't gonna break the bank?
Thanks!!

I haven't used that but do use Premier Protein, Protein20 Water & GENEPRO, unflavored. And what you like before surgery you might not like after just FYI.

I know there is a lot of controversy over it, but I swear by GENEPRO. It was recommended by my Dr. and Nut.

My personal suggestion is to get a few individual packs of different Protein Shakes because you will never know what you are going to tolerate after the surgery. GNC sells some great protien shakes and has a money back guarantee so if you don't or can't use it you can take it back. I had to take 5 different ones back after surgery because I was so lactose intolerant anything with isolate or whether made me physically ill. When I could somewhat tolerate a Protein Shake my go to was Unjury.

My favorite is Unjury. My doc wants the meal replacement/shake to have at least 25g of Protein per serving but Unjury Unflavored has 21 and I received a 👍 to use it. I seem to be OK as long as I don't have to smell it while drinking. I have held my nose at times. SMH! BUT with Unjury it does not seem to cause me problems.

What is GENEPRO and its controversy?

They're being sued for false advertising, claiming to have more Protein in each scoop than they really do.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
