It can vary due to your recovery in the post o.o area, it took me longer to get awake so my family was away from me for a total of 4 hours where it been stated it would have been 2 hours. When I arrived to my room I was still a bit out of it but knew what was going on. I got more awake about 3 hours after that and the nurse walked with me in the hallway...my surgery was afternoon. Hope that helps some.

I haven't had this surgery yet, but I have had surgery before under general anesthesia. The time depends on each surgeon, and your anatomy. But, assume it is like sleeping, you will "fall asleep" and "wake up". How long it takes you to "wake up" may be different lengths of in and out of grogginess.

Mine took about an hour and 40 minutes. I was out of it before they took me back, and I woke up at 11 in recovery. I felt fine, and stayed in recovery about two hours because they were really busy. I just laid there and listened to people around me moan and groan. After that, I was awake till bedtime that night.

I had a hiatal hernia repair at the same time I was sleeved.

According to my bariatric surgeon, the operation time was 30 minutes for the sleeve and 90 seconds to repair the hiatal hernia. So overall, surgery time was less than 35 minutes.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
