I am 4 days post, most of the immediate pain is very very mild. Around the port sites itches more than hurts. Which is good cuz that means it’s healing. My main issue is the gas pain. It keeps me up at night. And one thing that nobody tells you, if you’re a female it is likely your will start your period within a day or 2 of the procedure. So you’ll have to deal with that too. So double bloat double cramp. It’s suck. But I have found peppermint tea helps a lot! Almost instantaneous relief. And a good way to get your fluids while simultaneously reducing gas. Just my 2 cents

I ended up being allergic to the anesthesia they used to put me under and so I spent a lot of time in the hospital vomiting and my nausea was high. Even at the worst, the pain was about a 5 out of 10 for me, with 10 being the worst pain I’ve ever felt. The day after the procedure, it was down to a 2. Now at home I’d say I’m pretty comfortably less than a 1, but not quite a zero. My core really hurts to engage and I still need help sitting up in bed and whatnot. Gets better every day with sleep, walking, and fluids!

Personally I had a lot of rib cage pain just after surgery because of the gas. That resolved Day 2 with a lot of walking. With my incisions, it did feel like I had done 200 sit ups. The pain was not unbearable. Like any surgery that involves incisions, you have some pain but it gets better everyday. I am 17 days post op with absolutely no pain now.

How were you able to walk that much with no calories? That's where my issue lies. I put up a post about it. With next to no calories, what did you do? I don't have so much of the gas pain as what I did the first day (surgery on the 30 of October) but OMG, I Have NO energy to even feel like getting out of bed. :(

Good question Meg. When I say I walked a lot I don't mean like miles be caucuses you are right, I was weak from preop minimal intake diet and no intake just after post op. In the hospital, I walked around the unit several times a day. I would say it was probably about 80-100 meters each time. I know and understand it is so hard trying to even be motivated to get but keep trying. How are you doing on your Protein Shakes? I made myself drink per my program to get a bit of energy. It will get better everyday believe me.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
