Has anyone eaten...

Has anyone eaten Quinoa after gastric sleeve surgery?? I found a recipe that looks great but not sure how that would work. I haven't had any Pasta, rice, oatmeal, bread or anything like that since before my 2 week post op diet.

Nope...quinoa is a higher glycemic carb that doesn't have enough Protein to make eating it worth it to me. One cup has 30+ grams of carbs and only 8 grams of protein.

With a glycemic index of 53, quinoa has been known to cause frequent stalls and plateaus in sleeved people during the active weight loss phase. However, your mileage may vary.

Likewise, quinoa with a glycemic index of 53, will send blood sugar to, say, 150 mg/dl compared to 158 mg/dl for table sugar–yeah, sure, it’s better, but it still stinks. And that’s in non-diabetics. It’s worse in diabetics.

I've eaten Quinoa once or twice. I'm not really a big fan but I wasn't before surgery either. My program encourages us to eat small servings of grains and starches.
