How long was your surgery? I'm so emotional and anxious right now. I'm waiting for the hospital to call me with what time I have to be there tomorrow. They didn't give you any anti nausea medication?

My surgery was two hours and a half. Thats the normal. No complications as per the Dr. I was a complete mess emotionally before my surgery too. Its normal. Keep in mind the WHYs you are doing this surgery remember you are in great hands Dr. Merola is the Cheif so really of the bat you in great hands. Also it helped me i wrote down everything from my meals following my surgery what I was going to wear I left my home impecable so I spent alot of time cleaning and organizing.
For Nauseousness I asked the Anesthesiologist to give me Zofran in my IV and they said they did. But I would get this heavy chest feeeling where I would swallow and just more spit would come up and i would just have to throw up and gag that lasted about three days after surgery. I was told its a normal for most patients to experience this nasty episode of spitting up saliva.

Change that emotional state girl you got this.[emoji5]

Thank you so much for letting me know what may happen. I know Merola is a great dr. My friend used to work for him and she said he's amazing. I took her word for it, hence why he's my surgeon. :) How was the leak test? I heard that's the worst.

You are very welcomed.
The leak test its scary cause you are under ALOT of pain killers you basically feel high AF lol. And you have to be extra careful not to miss a step ( the ask you to go on a xray machine from your stretcher) then the test starts they give you a thick consistency drink that taste like cold thick milk of chalk with this weird tangy bitter taste. Yes it was horrible. But i survived it and so will you. You only have to take two sips with a straw.

I hope mine is Early morning. Waiting on that call from the hospital is annoying as I still have to make arrangements for my son depending on what time I have to be there. What time did you have to be at the hospital?

It took me a little under a year to do this and it should have been much quicker (insurance changes in the middle meant I had to start over [emoji849]) but it’s worth it.

Definitely worth it! Can’t wait [emoji4]

Ugh no they haven't called yet. ON the paper it says between 12-6 pm. I'm about to call that number as it says "if you're not home between those times to call the number after 12" lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
