Off the wagon, help!!

Recommended Posts

I had my gastric sleeve surgery September 28, 2014. Was doing what I was suppose to do, by February 2015 I had lost 65 pounds. I went from 286 to 221, which is where I stayed for the next year. I was not able to lose anymore weight. During this time I did watch what I ate didn't excerise at all. I tried to go walking several times but I have arthritis in both feet, there days my feet hurt. Now two and a half years later, I have gained 15 pounds back. Have limited funds so I can't get the foods I actually need. I want to go back to the liquid stage again but not sure if that is what I need. Help, any have any suggestions?

What did you do to lose those first 65 pounds during your first year of sleeved life?

The equation is deceptively simple: Start doing the things you did to lose the weight in 2014, and stop doing the things that resulted in your recent 15-pound weight regain.

Contrary to popular notions, exercise is not necessary for weight loss. 90+ percent of weight loss happens in the kitchen with the dietary choices we make.

Since you were sleeved 3 years ago, you should be able to eat anything. Most of the foods that will kickstart your weight loss once again can be found at most dollar stores, such as tuna, mackerel, Soups, sardines, light mayo, seasonings, eggs, and so forth. Even with limited funds, dollar store groceries are affordable.

Notice that all the aforementioned foods are high in Protein. Protein speeds up your metabolic rate and promotes weight loss due to the thermic effect of food: our bodies burn off a considerable amount of calories to digest and process foods that contain protein.

You can go back to liquids, but remember that the way you choose to lose the weight must also be the way you choose to maintain the weight. Liquids simply aren't sustainable in the long run for weight maintenance.

Good luck to you. You've got this. :)

Lean Protein, veggies, whole grains, lots of Water. Doesn't cost a lot. Buy on sale and freeze in smaller portions. liquid diet isn't healthy or sustainable. Great that you are reaching out after 15 pounds. Do you have a bariatric support group near you? That is super helpful. Reading and posting here is great. Recommit to what works and you will say goodbye to those extra pounds.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
