20 months out 223 pounds down pics

Recommended Posts

I am 20 months out and feel awesome. Starting weight was 387 I never thought I would see 1?? Anything ever appear on my scale. I look at my pics now and sometimes shead tears on how much of life I missed out on because I didn't feel like doing much because of the weight. It takes work but you can do anything you put your mind to. Hope this inspires someone that is struggling right now it gets better you just have to learn how to use your tool correctly. Top left pic was my start and some pics in between bottom middle is my most current pic (pink pants) I would have never! 😂

Congratulations on your accomplishment! You look great! Do you have any tips on how you lost the weight? I am 10 months out and am stuck at a 55 pound loss. I can't seem to get past this stall and it's been several weeks What would a typical day look like for you? did you eat a lot of Protein and cut-out carbs? how about exercise? Thanks for any help you can give me

Thank you. I am still unable to tolerate a lot of food so I mainly stick to Protein, protein and more protein. That would be in the forms of lean meats turkey, chicken, steak, light yogurt, 2% milk and cheese ( have become a little lactose intolerant so I don't do much of these. I will occasionally be able to get some veggies in as well but not that often as I still cannot eat much in one sitting. However I too have gone through stalls and the key is listening to your body if it is telling you that it is starving for something do it but in moderation. I sometimes had to break my stalls by incorporating some bread carbs because my body was starving for it but I don't tolerate it to well so it is very spring but it kicks me out of my stalls when I have them. I do walk around 5 miles a day and do hip hop fitness 3x's a week. But again all of our bodies respond to different things so be sure to listen to your tool if it tells you that it is full stop if you don't have those triggers then measure out portions that are recommended by your nutritionist and remember the sleeve is there to help but it doesn't by any means do all of the work for you. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. I hope this helps.

Thank you so, so much for your valuable advice. I really appreciate it. You mentioned that you walk 5 miles a day. Did this come easy to you or did you have to work-up to it? I'm definitely going to try adding more Protein. Did you do Protein Shakes a lot?

It took up until I was about 7 months out to get to 5 miles a day and I definitely had to work up to it. I just kept going farther everyday and my Fitbit was the best gift ever. And luckily my boss is super liberal with my time because I work my butt off but can't sit still. I have not been able to do Protein Shakes since I had the surgery because it has made me pretty lactose intolerant but if you can stomach them and you aren't getting enough Protein in via the food you are consuming it could be very beneficial for you. Question have you been to get bloodwork lately if so are your levels down this can throw you weight loss off track as well. Are you snaking a lot you should really only be eating when you are hungry?

Congratulations on your success!!! Very inspiring especially since my weight is similar to yours when I go into surgery on the 21st. I do have a question for you, are you dealing with Constipation eating all that Protein? I'm on day 11 of my pre-op diet and I'm experiencing constipation and I'm a regular person normally. I apologize for asking such a private question.

Thank you and yes with all of the protien and the fact I have to take Iron because it is super low (before and after surgery) I do find myself getting constipated far more frequently than before the surgery. It does get frustrating so I have started a regiment of drinking a Fiber drink in the morning with a stool softener and at night taking another stool softener. I have to take a laxative from time to time but not as often as before I started this regiment.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
