Lisette703 8 Posted August 11, 2017 Monday makes six weeks and I have only lost 20lbs. The scale isn't moving. I have PCOS and wonder if that's slowing my progress. I barely eat. I'm feeling defeated.
Berry78 4,261 Posted August 11, 2017 Give it time.. Do make sure you are meeting your goals. Too few calories will stall you out. Aim for 1000+ a day.

The less you weighed on surgery day, the more slowly you tend to lose the weight. In addition, when is the last time you lost 20 pounds in 6 weeks using the old fashioned methods of diet and exercise? I'm guessing your answer is "Never." You're doing great. For comparison, it took me 8 weeks (2 months) to lose a whopping 27.5 pounds. But the bigger picture is what I cling to, because although I was a slow loser, I lost 100+ pounds, got to my goal weight, and have been maintaining it. The following groups of people tend to be faster losers: males, the super morbidly obese (BMI 50+), and people under 35 years old. Typically, slower losers tend to be older females, 'lightweights' with less than 100 pounds to lose, menopausal women, racial/ethnic minorities, and people with metabolic issues like PCOS, hypothyroid, diabetes, and insulin resistance. It's time to adjust your expectations. How fast you lose doesn't matter; rather, keeping the weight off for life should be your focus. What's the point of losing like a house on fire, then regaining the weight? Regain is a common issue in the bariatric surgery community that no one thinks about during the weight loss phase, yet preventing weight regain is far more important than losing the weight. Good luck to you. 5 Berry78, Booandfrida, nonickname4me and 2 others reacted to this
Missy161 395 Posted August 13, 2017 I agree with everything the previous poster said!I'm just 7.5 weeks out so I'm not an expert. I will say this though... focus on getting your fluids in and your Protein. We will lose slowly- my surgeon said after the first few weeks it will slow to 2-3 pounds per week. Sometimes we stall because we aren't eating enough. We didn't put this weight on overnight and won't take it off overnight. I am guilty of thinking I should be losing more quickly and then I realize exactly what the previous poster said... 25 pounds in 7 weeks that's a great weight loss. Are you counting from surgery date to now or from the start of your surgery process until now? I usually count from the start of my journey, but it's less from the surgery date.I think the slower, steady weight loss is healthier. It's not as fun. These are just ramblings and thoughts. I hope it helps you.Mich WHw 223, SW 217 CW 192 GW
