Weight loss journey book?

Recommended Posts

I think that would be a nice idea! Kinda like a food diary. Write down your ups & your downs. Write how you were able to turn your negatives into positives & how you were able to accomplish you goals from the begining! Just a suggestion!

Find a lined notebook, or leather bound journal you like, a pen or pencil you enjoy writing with - and just write. Each day I record my feelings, discoveries, ups and downs. It takes no for except the day and date at the top of the page. Mine is not so much about weight or food, but about me and how I'm handling the changes in my life.

Grab pen and paper and just write!

I use an online journal called Penzu. It's private, unless you want it to be public, so it's a great way for me to 'write' about my journey. I like going back and reading and reliving, and I'm hoping to continue as I progress. I'm only pre-op right now, but I think getting all my thoughts and feelings down in a safe, private space will help me.

Blog, Vlog, Scrapbook, keep notes...I think it depends on what inspires you to keep going. Whatever inspires you, and you'll continue after those first few weeks will help you pick what process will be best for you. EX: I could say I'd scrapbook, but I'd set it all up, and two weeks later set it aside. I'm a writer (by trade), so writing for me is natural. I'm trying vlogging, but that doesn't feel as natural. I'm trying it, but we'll see how it goes.

Do you like visuals? Words? Charts? Excel? I'd go toward what will make you happy. :) Good luck on your journey.

I wanted to do the same. But I’m far too lazy. I’ll just snap photos of myself with each large milestone or something. I’m down 20lbs in less than 2 wks post op, but at 230 it doesn’t show enough to take the photo. Just my face looks super small.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
