Howdy to all. I'm on day 9 post op sleeve and partial Nissen fundoplacation and hiatal hernia repair. Did for major gerd for so many years and to help lose weight to get pressure off ingujnal hernia repairs. Today as has been all week shakes are getting to be hard to intake no taste or almost a gagging taste tried premier and mt rx rtd 51. Can't stomach either in low carb low sugar slim fast and they are starting to not settle easy. Today broths were not even decent. Is this normal? I believe I got my Fluid intake but have been progressively

Weaker each day and shaking at times. I did walk a quarter mile today so I'm not laying around etc. even Tmi urine output is a lot less today. Makes me worried I've emailed the dr to see if I could add low fat sugar free yougurt to help get some more Protein in but no luck yet. Any ideas. I'm motivated. 257 preop 240 surgery day and 227 ninth day post op losing about 2 pounds a day Attached pic at 257 and then yesterday pic. IMG_0551.JPG IMG_0550.JPG

Are you permitted regular milk? (Skim, 2%, whatever?) The shakiness is likely blood sugar issues, and milk has sugar, Protein, and Fluid. If you can tolerate it, it's a good thing to try.

I couldn't do Protein Shakes, so lived off milk and dairy for the first month.

Do take your temperature to make sure nothing is brewing, especially if broth is bothering you too.

Electrolytes can get out of whack, so try some coconut Water.

Walking is good, but it only needs to be around the house to keep circulation going if you are getting weak. You don't need to be burning calories you aren't consuming.

And if you are really start feeling bad, talk to your doc or go to the ER.

I probably was only "allowed" skim milk too. Hmm.. oops, there is only 2% in the fridge.. sue me!

Fat and carb control was absolutely necessary preop to get that liver to shrink. Postop, we do what we have to do to heal and be able to function.

Sure, my fats were high, and my carbs were insane (like 100g from milk sugar).. but you know what? I healed like a champ, my emotional state was good, and once I got to the regular diet, I put my macros where they belonged.

Of course you should listen to your team, and if you are diabetic, my diet may not work well for you. But I encourage "big picture" thinking so we can all feel like we are participating in our own journeys.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
