I had my sleeve procedure yesterday. I would like to find out approximately how much you were able to drink at one time?

I have only managed to get in 10 oz of Water, 3 oz of broth and 3 sips of Protein Shake for the whole day. Is that normal? My tummy is grumbling a lot but I'm scared to take in too much and get sick.

Focus on the hydration newly post op. That's the biggest issue. 60 oz per day. Did your team not provide post op drinking plan?

Yeah. It took me a few weeks to be able to drink decently. When I went to my 6 week follow up they kept dating you need to drink more and I remember how hard it was. Now at like 9 weeks I can chug about a third of a water bottle. It feels good. Just keep trying your hardest and carry Water with you all day.

By day 3 I was getting my 64oz. My plan had us on Clear Liquids the first week so we didn't fill up on Protein while sorting out the Fluid issue. Worked perfectly for me.

My doc said to shoot for 64oz a day but I wanted to know how much you were actually able to drink. Every little sip is like a hammer to the stomach..

I literally drank from a table spoon for 2 days.

Warm (not too hot) herbal tea went down nicely those first days. Temperature does make a difference.

On day 1 I probably had 1 oz. Day 2 it was 10 oz. Yesterday was day 3 and I think I got up to 30 oz. My nurses said to aim for 32 at first. Last night was the first time it didn't hurt and it felt like I could drink decent sized sips. I just try to increase liquids each day. My lips aren't dry so this seems to be fine, although I know I need to get to 64 soon.

I'm fighting with fluids too. Doc wants 10 1oz cups per hour.... yesterday I maybe got a total of 30oz of liquid in. Today is day 3 post op for me. I'm scared of dehydration but it still hurts to drink. Sip sip sip

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
