I'm having the sleeve surgery in January. I need to lose 185 pounds. Realistically, is it possible to lose that much if I do what I'm supposed to and change my lifestyle and how long do you think it would take? Has anyone else started at around 325 and lost 185 pounds after the sleeve surgery? Thank you in advance.

push the above link

there are peopled on the board that have lost 150,185, 200+ lbs etc.

as proven on the board, it is DEFINITELY doable

as in loosing any amount of weight, it takes hard work, /determination/

persistence and patience. don't compare yourself with others, how

fast they loose, and how much they loose in a certain time period,

any one losing weight must follow the many, many important rules.

good luck in January

Sure, it's possible. But, at 5'8, you'll be at a normal BMI at about 165lbs.. which is only 160lbs ;)

For me, I have 3 goals. 1 is to lose about 80% of my excess weight (me at 180lbs), and if I get there, then my stretch goal is 155lb (normal BMI). A non-scale goal is size 10-12.

Considering I started at 305lbs, 5'7, size 24.. I'm happy with any of it.

When formulating your goals, there are more things that are important beyond what the scale says, so be sure to have some non-scale goals too.

As for how long.. plan on at least 18 months to 2 years.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
